The Fourth Anniversary, A Wedding From a Photographers Perspective: Niagara Wedding Photographer

Well hello there. Today is a different post, as it is our fourth wedding anniversary.

It has been a while since I have posted something not directly related to my own clients, so I thought this was a great way to share my insight on the photographs that I find most important on a wedding day that you might not consider before your own wedding.

Amongst the industry and within meetings, I still hear far too often how people do not seem to put much emphasis on the reception. A large focus is the details, especially during the morning prep, obviously the ceremony and some family formals, and then a great deal of emphasis on the couple and wedding party. While all these elements are greatly important, and really help to set the scene and tell the day, nine times out of ten the day happened with, because, and for the people that are attending your reception (too).

This is probably always going to be one of my favourite photographs (a brief back story, aaron and I met in 1997, dated a little and were apart for eight years, dated for another six before we actually got married- so it was 15 years in the making!), there are many from our reception that I really could never live without.

It makes me sad to think that sometimes people will not understand the importance of reception photography, until it is too late. Photographs of your guests, your family and your friends. The people you handpicked and said "please witness and celebrate with us", and yet, often times they are forgotten.

Please enjoy a select number of photographs from our wedding reception that I love, for many different reasons. Whether it is because seeing them reminds me of exactly what I was thinking and feeling in that moment, enjoying the expressions on their faces, remembering the love and joy in the room, or the fact they are among the last photographs I have of my grandpa and nonna, and to me that is priceless.
